Overview
The excess weight around your face and neck may be due to an accumulation of fatty deposits around the chin area and neck. Causes may include general obesity, water retention or aging. A cosmetic surgeon can remove facial fat by performing liposuction, but many people cannot afford—or would prefer not—to “go under the knife.” Less intrusive methods are available to help reduce fatty deposits in the neck and face.

Drink More Water
If you are not drinking at least 64 oz. of water daily, you may be experiencing water retention which will make facial fat appear worse. When your water intake is inadequate, your body holds on to every ounce it has in reaction to a perceived shortage; this causes bloating in the face, hands, feet and ankles. According to a study cited by the “Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism,” your body will burn up to 400 kilojoules more daily if you drink around four pints of water a day. This is equal to 95 calories a day. Reducing weight in general will also help diminish face and neck fat.

Lifestyle
Dietary and lifestyle changes can help reduce facial fat. Eat less salt: if you add salt to your food or eat processed foods you are more likely to be bloated. The body holds on to water when you eat salty foods in an attempt to dilute potentially dangerous levels of sodium in the blood. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables—they’re rich in vitamins, have a high water content and contain plenty of dietary fiber. Fiber attracts water, but it uses it as part of the digestive process and removes it from the body. Fiber will also keep you feeling full and help prevent unhealthy binging.

Neck Exercise
According to Louise Annette, creator of “Ageless if You Dare,” a slim neck can be achieved by an exercise targeted at strengthening the platysma muscle which

runs from the tip of the chin to the chest. Grip a vertical piece of flesh on each side of the windpipe, and pull it away from the neck. Lean your head back, while opening your mouth slightly. Tense the jaw and jut it forward; you will feel the neck flesh moving from your grip. Hold for a few seconds and repeat 20 times.

Cheeks Exercise
According to Annette’s “Ageless if You Dare,” you can slim down the entire face by working on slimming the cheeks. Place your thumbs at the back of the most fleshy part of each cheek under the cheekbones. Using your fingertips, or the side of your fingers, grasp as much flesh as you can. Pull the flesh away from the face; then use your cheek muscles to draw it back in. Repeat 20 times, each time imagining you are crushing a piece of fruit with your cheeks.

Chin Exercise
Super Beauty Tips recommends an exercize to slim down the underside of the chin. Begin by tilting your head back and looking at the sky or ceiling. Perform a chewing motion. Repeat for around 20 chews; you will feel the muscles underneath the chin working.

Are you tired of those chipmunk cheeks or double chin, but too afraid to do anything about it for fear of near-starvation diets?

Have you ever been told that the only way to get rid of your fat cheeks and/or double chin is to cut down on all your favorite foods?

If you’ve just about given up hope on transforming your facial contours to their chiseled, sculpted best… don’t!

Contrary to what you may have heard about how to lose face fat, losing your chubby cheeks or double chin isn’t as difficult as nibbling on a few carrot sticks for every meal.

In fact, at this very moment, you are just three simple steps away from shedding that flab and boasting of a radiant, glowing complexion!

Let me explain…

You can do all this while still allowing yourself all your favorite foods and even desserts, just so long as you pay attention to these three basic dietary recommendations:

#1: Replace refined products with their unprocessed versions

The first and most important habit when you make the move from ‘unhealthy’ to ‘fit and fabulous’ is to start reading food labels. These labels list the ingredients the food product contains, while also their specific amounts.

The second, most harmful dietary villain is white sugar or table sugar.

Most popular desserts and non-diet soft-drinks are sweetened with white sugar, which in turn makes them little more than high-calorie traps. White sugar also depletes your skin of moisture and other nutrients, thereby making you more vulnerable to winkles and saggy skin. Limit your consumption of white sugar to an occasional sweet treat, or a couple of teaspoons every day.

Choose healthier dessert options like bananas, or fruit salad as a flavorful and wholesome end to your meal.

#2: Swap your soft drinks and coffee with REAL fruit juice or plain water

Although you may think that you are providing your body with all the fluid it needs when you gulp down bottles of cola or mugs of latte, these beverages actually leave you more dehydrated than before because of the high amounts of caffeine they contain. Your skin needs water to flush out the toxins that accumulate beneath it, while also to maintain its suppleness and elasticity.

When the amount of water your body contains does not match up to the levels your skin needs, your face will feel dry and stretched and become more prone to wrinkles than ever before!

Fruit juices, on the other hand, are powerhouses of vitamins and soluble fiber… provided you stick to real fruit juice and not the ones filled with additional sugar.

Also, try to find a healthy balance between fruit juice and plain old water, as the latter is virtually nil in terms of the calories it contains.

#3: Cut down on read meat

Red meat is not only a rich source of unhealthy fats, but can also cause cancer, diabetes and a host of other diseases if consumed in excess. Further, gorging on red meat is a great way to pile on those flabby pounds, with only a few nutritional benefits to gain in return.

Replacing your beef steak or hamburger with white meat like chicken, turkey or fish is a great way to get all the protein your body needs minus the unhealthy fat.

Fish is also a high source of Omega-3 fatty acids, which are a powerful ally against the negative effects of aging and heart disease.

In the two years that I spent trying to lose my chubby cheeks, I found that a healthy and wholesome diet, when accompanied by moderate and effective face exercises, could produce startling results in improving my facial definition and contours.
